Default CEL question

Well it popped up probably about a week ago and after my visit to autozone, the code was p0171 (engine too lean)

now after a little research (gotta love the search ), i see the culprits would bea exhaust/intake leak, the air system, MAF, or o2 sensor.

now i also saw somebody mention something about using an oiled filter (such as the k&n i use)... Would that be having any effect on why im getting the problem?

i was going to change my MAF sensor but i dont want to jump the gun if it could be something related to my k&n/airbox mod.... thanks for the help.

it could be because some of that oil can get to the sensor and throw off the readings...that would be my best guess since you just did the mod too...try cleaning it first before you buy a new one, soak in 99% isopropyl or use an electronics cleaner...
