Default Changing the car stereo

Ok i've had a look though a few pages and can'tr see this exact question answered.
Just bought a 2004 Audi A4 1.9 TDi 130BHP, 6Speed
Its got the usual Audi Concert CD headunit in it.
First thing is, the surround, where would i get one as aftermarket stereos take up a smaller area.
Second (and third probably)
Steering wheel remote, can it work with all headunits or only specific models? and do i need and adapter.
And the last thing is the display on the dash. will this just be blank if i change the stereo?

no pics of mine as yet.
its already dirty so have to clean it up and take shots

I see nobody has reposted to your question but if you are looking to change your headunit please put a double din head unit or tv/nav in there. i suggest the alpine ivaw205 or the pioneer avicz2 or avicd3. Maybe the kenwood dnx701 all great head unit personally ihave the alpine 205. Anyway if you replace the headunit you need adapters made to adapt to aftermarket headunits peripherial makes this piece. Third the dash console will go blank havent seen none that wil actually work maybe someone has been able to do it but not me. well take it easy

to take up the size differance you buy an install kit as for the streering wheel controls they may make an adapter for those to work as for the display on the dash it probaly be blank if you remove the factory radio

Bought my dash trim bezel (for taking up the excess dash hole width that the aftermarket head unit doesn't have) off eBay for about $11 and it works great. Search out "A4 trim bezel" and you should find one.

this also might help if you get stuck on the wiring and rear speakers not working
