Default Changing My Own Oil: Worth It?

hey

I'm due for an oil change on my 01 1.8 and I feel like paying $70 at the oil change place is a lot of $. First of all, would it be much cheaper to do it myself? Secondly, is it easy to do for someone without any experience working on cars? thanks

buy a box of oil and a filter. you just unscrew the drain plug on the oil pan and remove the filter. then replace it and dump the oil in from the top, its as simple as you can get.

The splash shield is a PITA. Buy some large oil filters like Mann W940/25.
Bring the filter to WalMart for a $50 synthetic oil change.

If your paying $70 for someone to change your oil, your getting ripped, I had to pay someone to do it once, $50 for full synth, but I usually do it myself for a lot less, and its worth it, easy easy easy.

DIY man. Only when its freezing outside I take it to the shop/work. The feeling of accomplishment when you work on YOUR car is great too.
