Changing rear brake pads on 96 A4 pistons won't go in...Need Help
Im having the same problem but with my rear calipers. I'm using a C clamp to twist and push it in but they wont go in. I hope I haven't damage anything. Is it really important that the brake resevoir be open? What about the bleeding cap should I unscrew the bleeding cap to let some pressure out? Help anyone.
Dont use a C clamp on the rears or any kind of rigged setup. You can F up your caliper and it can seize doing that. Yes its important to take the resevoir cap off or you could rupture a brake line with the built up pressure... Skip the bleeding and go to autozone and rent the caliper tool that is needed to do it properly IMO. Turning the c clamp while twisting the piston with a wrench is not the right way and would take 10 times as long to get it done that way -if at all + you risk damaging the piston/seal around it.
I did get a caliper tool from Autozone but I i so antique when it comes to using tools. I m going to have a friend who is more familiar with mechanic. The only reason I wanted to try it myself is because I heard it was easy.
