Default Changing timing belt question

I was talking to my buddy and he said he changed a A4 timing belt without taking off the front bumper etc etc is that possible? Maybe 2002 and up?

ive had the front end off of my 99 avant 3 times now. it is super easy. bumper has 2 bolts, detach fender wells, head lights, drain radiator and just move out of the way with condenser and core support. ta-duh

to answer your question, no. front end comes off. make sure you have torx heads and allen heads

I have heard it is possible to change it with out removing the bumper. There is also a way to loosen the bumper and slide it out a couple of inches for clearance. I think you have to buy some steel rods to have the bumper rest on. I haven't but have read that removing the bumper appears more difficult than it really is.
