Changing Timing Belt on 2.8 V6
Anyone out there ever changed the timing belt on a 2.8 V6? I have a 98 A4 Quattro with 121K miles. Need to change the serpentine belt and am pretty sure the t-belt has not been changed yet. Is this something that a fairly good backyard mechanic can do, or should I surrender to the pros? I have done this on a VW 4 banger, but not a V6. Thanks.

Sure, its been done many times. There is a search at the bottom, search for v6 and timing belt, you should find some posts.
Yes you can do it, you need either to buy a tool to keep the cams aligned while you change the belt, or make one yourself.
You'll see when you find the posts how to make one.
Buy a kit from ecstuning.com or pap-parts.com that has everything, get the kits with the waterpump and additional belts.
