Cheap Boost Gauge Question
Never had any lights or any problems, since I took ownership about 8k miles ago. Is there any way (without an EGT) to tell if you are running lean? It has always seemed to run and drive the same...Quick, but not fast. I assume the plugs may tell a story? The guy whom I purchased the car from, knew I was going to mod. Surprising that if he did have it chipped, he wouldn't tell me about it. Does APR, GIAC, ETC. keep vin #'s on file? I'm just really curious to know if it is chipped and if so, what programing it is...for future plans.
To be honest, if the car is in fact chipped, I will be very dissapointed. I was looking forward to that first nice hp-boosting-noticeable mod. Everyone talked about how slow the A4 was stock and I've always thought it wasn't too bad. Maybe this is why. Oh well.

My guess is you have a bad guage. If you seriously don't feel like the car is extremely peppy (a chipped 1.8 does not feel like any stock car I've owned before) then I doubt you are chipped.
You need to go drive another stock 1.8t to compare - you will know right away.

I wuld just look at the ECU, and see if theres anything on it like a GIAC or APR sticker or logo. Because your gonna know if thecar is chipped or not. But just replaec your boosy gauge, and seeof your getting the same reading.
ORIGINAL: A4speed
Even with it chipped I don't think it goes over 16-17 psi
