Default Check engine light

I have a check engine light on and had it read. I got a code P0171 and says it's lean on bank 1...does anyone have any idea what this means ?

Probably a vac leak.

There is a search box at the bottom of the main page.

Good luck.

I am in real trouble. My ecu in my 1997 A4 1.8t ( 5 spd manual ) is apparently faulty. Somewhat intermittant. My A4 will start on occasion but 9 times out often the engine will just turn over. Once started it will remain running. I am in need I am told of a replacement ecu. I am new in Europe so I don't know who has the most reliable parts and at what price. I can import from my home ( USA) but there has too be a better way. Any ideas???? The ecu and firing harness was put on a device to troubleshoot the circuit. Hence my response. Thanks for you responses

Sounds like you need to trade your car for a Fiat Panda. Good luck with that!
