Default Cleaning A4 soft top...

Hello,

I own a Audi A4 Cabriolet (silver with a black roof). I have had it about a year. Recently I have noticed that the rain no longer beeds on the roof, it just soaks in. The roof could also do with a good clean too. I usually just rinse it of with clean water. The rest of the car gets cleaned and waxed, but this is my first soft top car!

Can anyone recommend a product(s) that will clean the roof and water proof it again (so rain beeds on it)? I think the Audi dealers in the UK sell products that do this, but they tend to be expensive. For example they will clean and treat the whole car but it costs 600 pounds!!!!

Thanks.

Well I always washed with the same soapy water as the rest of the car... just hit the roof with the same wash mitt, and rinse it off. Cleans it perfectly.... the beading thing though -- Can't help you there.

The beading is a similar effect you get with a waxed car. The water collects in beads and runs off the roof. There must be some sort of protection you can apply to the roof to restore the waterproofing (though the roof is not actually leaking internally). I have a look in my local Halfords and see. I though someone might reply with "use product X it's great!" [sm=smiley1.gif]

I used Fabsil on my TVR roof and it worked perfectly. Anybody used it on a TT roadster before I go ahead and give it a try?
