Cleaning Horn Contacts
I've been searching but I can't find anything to this effect.
My horn doesnt work, I don't think the horns themselves are bad because I got it to honk once when I slammed really hard down on the steering wheel horn "button". I suspect its the horn contacts that need to be cleaned. Can anyone provide me with a DIY/explanation on how I can get the take apart the steering wheel to get to the horn?
I have a 2001 1.8t with trip (steering controls).
Thanks

I'd start at the horns at work backward - the horns and close components are under the hood and far more susceptible to water damage, corrosion, breakage, etc, than components that are snug, dry, and warm inside the steering wheel. Start under the hood and work back toward the steering wheel - you'll be likely to find the problem fairly quickly.
thanks. anyone know where i can get a detailed diagram of the horn wiring? or at least a picture of the horn relay? (sorry, hate to sound like a newbie..what what can i say, i am one) :P
