hey guys, at idle, my car is making a weird clicking/ticking noise that is pretty hard to locate. It may be the tensioner on the timing belt? but idk.

Most likely it is valves. All our cars do it. How many miles and when did you change your timing belt.

 

timing belt was changed at 80k and there is 120k on it now..

 

yeah as the cars age they start to get lifter noise, scared the crap out me when i first heard it at 150k for the first time but then again my timing was retarded and i was using thinner oil than what i should have been using.

 

i have been using syntec 5w40.. what should i be using if not that.. because it says its formulated for volkswagons
