CLUTCH IS DEAD!?!?!
Anyone else with a Certified Used Warranty (2 years or 100k Miles) have to deal with clutch problems?
I called the service department at Pass $ Weisz in Bulrington Ma, and I have to get it towed up there on Monday (about 25 miles). Only then, when he diagnoses the problem, will I know if it is covered.
According to the warranty booklet nearly everything involving the clutch is covered other than the clutch lining as it is a wear and tear peice.
OK... as I was writing this, the Flat Bed guy showed up with my car (brought it from the parking lot to my apartment).
He thinks I broke an axle. He pointed out where some of the plastic under the front of my car was wet with oil or grease. He aslo said since my car will roll while in any gear, he really thinks it is an axle.
Now the warranty booklet says it covers nearly everything associated with drive shafts, but not Cv Joints or boots... so I still am not sure if I will have to pay through the nose for this or not.
I wish I was at least beating on the car when it happened... not driving slowly through a fricken parking lot.
Anyone break an axle, drive shaft, cv joint, or anything of the like in their quattro? If so, what did your car do afterwards? Was it similar to what I wrote about in my first couple postings??
just trying to get a handle on this...

Oh did I leave out the part about Super Dave-ing it over a 5 ft flight of stairs?...
I am not really sure how the Quattro Axle system works... I know I had a CV joint break on my old CRX, and even though only the right front broke, it wouldnt hold in any gear either.
Anybody out there know how the quattro system works? If one CV joint or Axle broke, would it effect all 4 wheels? My guess is that it would, but I am just guessing.
I was in Vermont last weekend, up in the mountains, many miles away from any Dealership or Tow Company... I am real glad this didnt happen then.

Well, I guess with a broken axle it could send all the power to the slipping (broken) wheel. I thought on the quattro system though there was a split between front and rear that would not be effected in the same way. So if the right rear axle broke, the power to the rear may all go into the right side, but I thought the 60% of power that went to the front would be unaffected and still drive the front wheels. In that case, for it not to move, you would need one broken axle in the front and one in the rear. If not, then one broken axle may affect the whole system. Good news is, replacing the axle (with the CV joints) is relatively cheap.
Did you ever try to take a peek under the car to see if anything looked broken or leaking before it got towed?

Yea, I took a look when it first happened... But it was fricken pooring out, and everything was wet, I couldnt really see anything. I really assumed it was the clutch so I gave up on it kinda quick. I didnt even think to look under there today.
I am really crossing my fingers that this is the problem.
I hate waiting in limbo, not knowing what the damage ($$) is going to be on this. I wont find out for another 38 hours!
