Default Dead clutch pedal...?

Hey all... any help here would be appreciated. i was driving my audi (b6 a4 avqm6) today and when i went to shift from first to second it felt like i had missed the shift, i couldn't get it into second gear. i made sure i had the clutch in and tried again but to no avail. at this point, i realized that the clutch pedal had lost all feel and resistance. i had it pressed down as hard as i could and could barely get it into gear. once i was able to get it into gear i limped home in second. once i stopped the car though (maybe 2 miles later) i couldn't get it into gear, no matter how hard i tried. also, i put the in neutral and released the clutch pedal and the car stalled (like i had left it in gear or something... any ideas here? i'm expecting a pretty major repair here so give it to me straight. all types of answers appreciated...

you should start with checking the clutch fluid. are there any leaks? if not i suspect a broken pressure plate.

Brake fluid, make sure is topped off, if is ok, replace master cylinder.

Sounds like a clutch or transmission issue, a bad master cylinder wouldn't explain why the engine stalled with it in neutral.

could be, there was an occasion where they guy was able to put it in gear and the same thing OP is describing happened, ended up being his clutch not disengaging.

Something has to be binding up, only way to really find out is to pull the transmission and check the clutch. If nothing is wrong with the clutch then the transmission is done.
