Default clutch problem? maybe?

So i just got my 99 A4 1.8t quattro manual sat. I as day dreaming at a light the other day and dumped the clutch around 3500, 4k rpm. it took off like a bat out of hell but i noticed a burning smell, not like tires, more like maybe the cluthc, but the clutch was put in less than 10k miles ago. Should i be worried?

Also, when i'm in like 2nd or 3rd and i floor it from a around 2k, it kind of hesitates or studders... just barely... at about 3500 rpm. slipping clutch? it feels almost like it lost some power in that 500 rpm... could this maybe also be a loss of boost? Previous owner chipped the car, but he never said anything about upgrading the DV. (GIAC chip just for reference)

unfortunately this is the price for street thrashing the clutch and mods ( a clutch plate is easily burned out ) when over revving and shoot starting

i didnt think thought that one bad launch could do that? make the clutch slip... its a fairly new clutch like i said. anyone else have any ideas or do we all agree the clutch is just already bad.... im hoping he just didnt upgrade the DV and im losing boost... much easier/cheaper fix.

Well if you want to destroy a clutch in 10k miles you can, but as long as you are driving regular and just burned it once or twice, I think you should be fine. You won't want to continue doing it though if you want it to hold up.
If you know how to drive, your clutch should easily reach 100k miles. That doesn't mean you can't play hard with it sometimes. With the quattro though you just don't want to drop the clutch because the clutch will almost always slip before the tires will. Now stop worrying and go have fun with it.

As for the hesitation, there are a few things it could be. Do some searching and you will find a couple of things to look for. Boost leak is possible.

thanks guys, I'm glad you guys were so helpful and din't treat my like an ignorant "noob".

But do you guys have any idea on where to start to find if i have a boost leak? its wierd it actually felt a little stronger when i just went out to the mall. i turned my radio off and for some reason the turbo seemed to spool louder and the bypass valve made a real distinct blow off... they were nice sounds... =)

i love this car

Yeah, whenever you drop the clutch from high RPM's you'll get the smell... Don't worry about that, doing it a couple times is "OK" but you want to avoid it as much as possible. Your clutch isn't going to roll over and die from what you did, you should be fine... Unless its slipping hard on regular takes offs your probably fine... I wouldn't ponder on it to much, but trying a new DV for 35$ isn't a bad idea, might solve your other problem.
