Some last 40k miles, some last 140k miles. Depends on the driver. They probably SHOULD last close to 100k miles. Obviously the more highway miles the longer it will last also.

Right, its all in the driver (and the previous drivers). If driven correctly and nicely, your clutch can last a long time, but beat it or slip it a lot, and it will go much sooner. If you think it is starting to go, you can do a little searching here about how to check. A common one is to get up to about 30mph, put it in 5th, and floor it. If the tach doesn't move, your good, but if the tach jumps up some even though you don't start moving much faster, then you clutch is on the way out. Start looking for your replacement and a good shop to put it in for you.

if the clutch is used properly it should out last the car and you,

how many ride the clutch at traffic lights/ quickly rip through the gears to beat some one??

we all did it so no liesbut if you did then the clutch will last one third of the time ( approx ) or less same as the timing belt so be warned

I have heard that the more drivers the worse it is for the clutch. I bought my car with 55000 miles and the pedal was pretty far up. I have 130,000 now and the clutch is the same. Just dont burn it and it will last forever. I have never changed a clutch in any of my cars. JUST DONT BURN IT OR RIDE IT, and it should outlast theengine.

not much fun to drive like a grandma for salvation of your clutch. I say live a little burn it up every now and then and whenthe time comes toreplace it, just think back on all the good fun you had destroying it. You only live once.

i relpaced my transmission at 129k and did the clutch while i had the transmission out. when i compared the clutch disc that had 129k and the new disc, the old one still looked to have alot of life left in it. i was thinking maybe it was replace before but i asked my friend who sold me the car and he said the guy who had it before him had it since new and said he never replaced the clutch.
