and yes, I know exhaust is the way to go to boost the horsepower, but i don't have $2000 hanging around at this point. sooo...yeah. but better air flow into the turbo and intake would most definitely have SOME effect on thecar other than making it hiss when the DV discharges.
Exhaust should only cost you about $900 after install around $700 is you DIY

Don't be afraid to say BOV!

Those that understand what a BOV does, that there are different types of BOVs, and understand what a DV does ... will understand you when you say BOV. They'll just state that your BOV must recirc.

We ALL understand. DV and BOV are essentially the same thing but when speaking in reference to our cars it is a DV if its an eclipse its a BOV.

Since the topic of heat soak and heat shields is already brought up.....

Anyone have a good write up or DIY of how to make a proper/effective heat shield? I'm sure there would be many happy audi owners with intakes ("CAI" or not) that would benefit from it.

its nomenclature, its not like it does anything different. but really, thank you for clearing that up. really super helpful. but I could go and buy a recirc BOV and it would work...and it wouldn't be called a DV would it...

If you dont have emissions tests in your state id go with a test pipe. That will be where your real performance gain is as far as exhuast systems go.
unfortunately in massachusetts we do...which really sucks

A guy on audizine sells really nice heat shields and it gets great reviews. But you could do the same... Just take a trip to home depot and order some good shielding material to cover it with off the net.

Like I said I have had pretty good success with doubling up the existing heatshield and then keeping the little snorkel to funnel in more air. I would say getting cold air to the intake is probably more important then keeping hot air away. Someone on her made a custom snorkel that was a large tube going from the front grill under the headlight to the front of the intake I'd imagine as long as he could keep debris and and water out he will never experience heat soak. EVER!

Get a highflow cat. Labreemotorsports.com way less restrictive then stock and will still pass emmisions. Direct bolt on replacement

Thas an adjustable BOV. If it was sealed for recirculatioin ONLY then it would be a DV.
