dude, they make BOV's that recirc....will you pay attention? I'm sorry, but you've made the same incorrect argument like 15 times now.

and yes, at some point, if I really mod this thing out i will need SAFM. but I'm trying to avoid that. and if all I have to do is get by the MAF, then I think I can do that.

Manufactures list them as two different things because they are two different things (slightly different)
A BOV blows off to atmosphere
A DV diverts air back into the intake
The stock BOV for any DSM (as an example)is a BOV that was built and designed to recirculate.

Some BOVs are meant to be recirculating. However most of the BOVs you see on the market are meant to vent atmospherically with fancy lil whistling sounds. This doesn't mean ALL BOVs are meant to vent atmospherically.

It's not a similar concept, it'sthe same gosh-darn thing.

People that drive Acura's dont say they drive Hondas even though they are essentially the same thing.
"Acura" is a North American marketing name.... nothing more. On every other continent Honda is sold on, it's a Honda Integra, not an Acura RSX.
..but they are the same thing.

and youll look like an idiot if you are passive about how one works even in the most technical sense.

Im all ears Boss, im speaking to the people who say a BOV is the same thing as a DV. Which is incorrect. Even if it is set torecircualte. Yes it operates the same, but the NAME is no different or else is would be advertised asotherwise.

yeah, i get it, they have different names....but understand this....THEY DO THE SAME THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do you get it??

BOV =a little valve, that releases air once it gets to a certain pressure, and then recirculates it back through your intake...
DV =a little valve, that releases air once it gets to a certain pressure, and then recirculates it back through your intake...

first do a search on terms before posting..

second cold air intake with a aftermarket dv will give you the bov like sound you so desire..

footnote if you are going to run a cold air set up go ahead and get a Audi Zine custom heat shield ...it will rob you of hp if you dont

enjoy

You really have no idea what you are talking about. Its not about a certain pressure that is reached before the air is re routed. When you let off the throtle that creates vaccum which opens a port in the "little valve"for air to travel either to the ATMOSHPHERE or back into the intake. Key differences being ATMOSHPHERE and BACK INTO INTAKE. A BOV does not recirculate back into the intake unless you have a recirculation kit.

dude, BOV's come with recirc kits!!!! does that make it a DV??? no, it makes it a BOV that has a recirc tube on it...wow...

ummm....and you measure vacuum in......thats right, PSI!!! thank you...so it is a certain psi that opens the valve...is the psi negative, yes it is, but it is a pressure switch either way....why?? because it works on differentials in pressure!!! yaaaaay!!! and ladies and gentlmen, that is pressure valves 101.....so please...don't talk to me like I'm retarted...I'm a mechanical engineer, I get how it works, thank you...

also, i know I could just slap a DV on there, and I don't want it to blow off to atmosphere because it sounds good. I'm am looking for other options, I have my reasons, and I'm trying to talk to someone WITH EXPERIENCE in the matter, not someone who is just gonna give me their opinion. so thank you.

How does a DV recirculate back into the intake w/o a kit?

onepoint8tee: do you have me on ignore?
