note: all air must be recirculated.. these have been tested at differnet vta levels and have shown it still dosent work 100%

i know they call it a BOV.....thats why I linked to it....

listen, the reason that I want to know about doing it this way is because at some point I'm probably going to replace the entire air intake system and I would really rather not have to run a recirc tube to the air intake. now granted, that is just me being lazy, but at the same time, I would like to be able to adjust it and not worry about the recirc f-ing with the MAF sensor. at this point, however, I'm beginning to believe that it would just be easier to pipe the recirc tube than deal with all of the rest of the BS.

If you could re route the plumbing and not have to deal with the MAF that would be a first that id be aware of.. It would be pretty cool though. But much easier to get a good DV, intake w/good heat shield so you can get what you want. The DV still "Pshhhh's" and an intake will make it more audiable. Its just preventing heat soak with an intake that is key. Id be more interested indeveloping a good heat shield, having an intake and using a DV for all of the affects/effects you are looking for.

well, I've tricked anMAF before (in a mitsubishi 3000gt vr4...most ridiculous car ive ever driven by the way. if you have a chance, buy one. with about4 grand you can make a 12 second car. no joke)...not sure I could do it in an audi, but with the right tools its possible...and at that point you can do whatever you want with the intake. at any rate, yeah, getting cold air to the engine quickley is my main concern at this point, and all the **** that I see for it has all this ghetto piping that would make the air all turbulent. I could probably weld something, but again, I'm lazy and have a full time job that ISN'T working on my car...so basically at this point I'm trying to weigh the laziness factor against what I'd like to do to this car.

Basically, the only way you can vent atmospherically with this (and most others) system without screwin up the readings from the MAF count, is to convert over to a Speed Density Map system or MAF-T post turbo/BOV. You CAN vent, but you'll throw your a/f readings and driveability will be affected. To what degree would you be affected? ..it varies from car to car with individual configs and environmental variables.

Audi recommends against it, as do most knoweldgeable tuners.

As for the DV vs. BOV... just don't reply to those that tell you it's not a BOV. You know what it is, they know what it is ... just don't be afraid to call it a BOV

Manufactures list them as two different things because they are two different things (slightly different)
A BOV blows off to atmosphere
A DV diverts air back into the intake

While its the same concept of redirecting air, they are known as two different things because they redirect the air two different ways-to two seperate things (atmosphere/intake piping.)
People that drive Acura's dont say they drive Hondas even though they are essentially the same thing.

They have to be distinguished as seperate because they technically get the job done differently.
You should be affraid to call a DV a BOV and vice versa because there is a differnce between the two and youll look like an idiot if you are passive about how one works even in the most technical sense.
When you get a recirc. kit for your BOV, then it may be ok to call it a DV, but it is still techncally just a BOV with a recir. kit.

there are some tt and s4 guys that used to and maybe still do run the hybrid ones, not with great success though

if you want to upgrade the dv right now get 710 off a 225tt they hold boost well and are only like 30 bucks

and if you are planning on doing alot of mods to your car you will probably eventually go standalone efi.. where it dosent matter what you use
