after they post about oil on my #1 spark plug .. several people suggested i should do a compression test..

well went out this morning got a compression test kit from Advanced Auto Parts ... brought out the Haynes manual and went to work..

heres what i came up with

#1 - perfect 200
#2 - perfect 200
#3 - perfect 200
#4 - 195

not bad at all.. not sure why my #4 is 5 psi lower but i figured that was pretty damn good for a 74k mile A4
im stoked that my compression is good.. so now i guess i just need to replace that Valve Cover gasket


now of course after performing the compression check. i have a CEL .. the Haynes said this would happen.. I dont have a VAG-Com .. any way to clear THIS CEL without taking it to the dealer.. or back to the parts store and have them clear it?

 

Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes.

 

ya i could do that but i dont have my radio code.. lol .. so im trying to avoid that

 

I am not sure about the CEL ....... but damn those are some good #'s you have got to be stoked!

 

just go to the auto store they can clear them

what will that do?

 

tell you everyone that has a vag near you and if they will let you use it

 

lol, there you'll find a list of people with Vag-Coms that are willing to help.
