i have a cooling system leak and was woundering if i shouldtry this prestone leak stop it says to put in the radiator but i would have to put it in the res. and i dont know if that would be ok cause it has some kinda pellets in it, plus it says to not use in pressurized overflow systems woundering if that is on a 02 a4 1.8t thanks for the help.

Where is the leak coming from? I would not suggest using theprestone stop leak, people say only use g12 coolant because of silicates in other kinds of coolant, rust issues, gumming issues, and head gasket problems. You need to determine where the leak is and fix the problem which will end up being cheaper in the long run.

Puddle, usually the only antifreeze leak that causes a puddle without coolant pouring out is a bad water pump.

Ya, make sure it's not the water pump before anything else.

i wouldn't suggest using something like that either. find the leak and take care of it. get a good flashlight and search your engine compartment after the car has been well driven. you'll find it. my car had a similiar problem and the leak was coming from the bottom of the overflow bottle. i guess that is a common place for these cars to spring a leak. good luck.

yeah if you miss when pouring it's going to spit out the overflow line on the bottom of the res. Stop leak is a bad idea, it may fix a leak...but it will also plug up things it's not supposed to, always seems to get the heater core good and then you will have no heat. Look on the back side of the cylinder head, they have an elbow that likes to leak on the back side of the engine.
