I am doing a few things to make my car run smoothly and look better and I have been given the following estimates:

Timing belt change - $1000
Tune Up - 300

Install GIAC chip, 710N, and N75 Race for $150

Tints for $200

Do you think these prices are all realistic? Am I overpaying? Getting a steal? Just want to group them all togehter and see what you guys think. I'm sure everyone here has done most of these. I'm in NY btw and if anyone knows a cheaper shop let me know.

if you are mechanicaly inclined, do the timing belt yourself and save about $600-$700 on that alone.. I dont know whats involved in a $300 tune up, but i sure as hell hope its a lot of stuff including flushing all your fluids... GIAC chip costs $500-$600 after labor, 710n=$35, N75 race=$40-$80 depending on wether its used or from the dealer.. I hope you have balanced your check book recently. Cost for tints is about right.. I paid $180 for mine, but roughly $200 is the going rate for a quality job w/ lifetime waranty.

 

For tint I paid $135 (lifetime warranty) here in the Bronx. Don't know about the $300 tune up though, seems a bit high, so is the timing belt quote. I plan to do my timing belt myself in the summer. Pretty sure there are some good euro car specialists in BK keep looking.

 

Depends on what is included in a tune up. If you go OEM NGK platinum plugs, those run 56 dollars. Another 15 dollars for an OEM air filter. These can be changed by you in about 30 minutes.
