Default how to determine exact engine type

Hi,

Is there a simple way to determine exactly what engine type I hav eon my A4. I know that it is a 1.9TDI - but is it a PD engine, what is that exact BHP etc?? I want to chip the engine but need to know exactly what type I have!

Cheers

It should be on the valve cover on top, on the firewall side, under the black cover that you take off with 3 plastic screws-if you have that.

Cheers - removed the plastic cover and looked yesterday evening and found two sets of numbers
038 103 469R - which I think is just the code for the rocker cover
and
3103041821 - which I have no idea what this means!

Do these numbers make sense to you? Should I be able to tel the engine type using the VIN number??

Thanks for the help

the numbers are part numbers only, you BHP is 115 standard only 2 engine types are in the UK and engine numbers are ( AJM/ATJ ) these letters can be found on the top of the engine just above the fly wheel on the engine casing should you find a different set of letters its probably down to it being made for the USA

Cheers - Looked under the bonnet again and the code on the camshft cover is AVB 2134 ... Any ideas what the bhp is for a AVB engine or where I could find the information?

Thanks for all your help ...
