Just picked up my 96 a4 2.8...the cruise control isnt working. I looked at the fuse box...no fuse in the slot for cruise...okay...looked a little closer and there are no contacts inside the slot for the fuse to contact. wtf?? is it possible a previous owner tried to push a fuse in there and pushed the contacts out the back of the fuse box? The car has the cruise control controls and everything.

 

You sure you are looking at the right fuse? A lot of times the stalk is the part to go bad.

 

yep..i am looking at slot 11 in the fuse box on the left side of the dashboard...says right on the cover fuse slot 11 is cruise control

 

can you look behind to see if it was pushed out the back?

 

thats what i am going to try..take the face off the box...i dunno if it will work but i am going to try

My '99 A4 has a broken cruise control. Before my dad sold it to me, I think he paid the dealership for an hour of their time to try to find the problem, but they didn't.

 

cruise control switches are know to go out on the 96 a4
