Default Cruise Control Not Working - '97 A4 1.8T

My cruise control has gone out in my A4.

Is this a common problem?

How would I go about troubleshooting this?

I checked the vacuum hoses to the cruise control unit. They seem to be fine. The linkage is attached to the throttle body. I can't visually find anything wrong with the cruise control.

Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

Likely your control stalk on the column is dead. It's not that uncommon. There's also a control module above the glovebox that can get cracked solder joints. Heating the board to re-lay the solder sometimes fixes it but my bet is the column switch.

Not 100% but there should be a fuse for your cruise control. Make sure it is good!

The fuse for the sunroof has been removed, because there was a problem with the sunroof. Are the sunroof and cruise control on the same fuse by chance?

If it's not the fuse, then I imagine it's the column switch like Devil said. Thanks!
