Damn cassete!!!
The cassete is out already (did the plier+ strength method =D) but the radio still thinks that its in the deck since it does not raise. I am seeking answers to see if theres a way for it to not recognize it anymore..
When you put in the cassete, some piece in it goes down with the cassete to inform the HU that there is a cassete.
I think all you need to do is pull out/up that particular piece.
(I think this piece could be the cassete housing).
It's hard to explain.

lever a small crowbar or biiiggg screwdriver. put it all the way in so as to get as even a distribution of force as possible. if it ate the tape, thers prob just some tape holding it in. why would you even bother putting in a cassette? i haven't owned one since 1989. then again, i haven't listened to the radio since then either. (moved away from cfny for you toronto people)
First of all it completely suks not have music in your whip. I'm sure we can all agree on that.
Second, if all she has to deal with is a wire coming out that plugs into an IPOD(or other music source) that's a win for erica, unless she wants to replace the deck, which she is obviously trying to avoid.
Third her radio will probably work , once something (the adaptor) is actually in the cassette unless the thing is perminantly stuck trying to eject. (which it sounds like it's doing with nothing in it anyway) It is worth a try as it should transfer back and forth from radio/tape/cd sources once the cassette deck is full. The adaptor will be stuck inside, BUT who cares as long as it resolves the situation. They make black and white ones, so pick the one that you prefer. Ripping things out with pliers is a gamble and she may get stuck with completely broken deck and/or something sticking out that looks worse than a fully functioning adaptor wire.
Go spend the $10.00 and give it a shot before you start hacking at it.
Or just find a used concert from a junk yard and swap it. It's not that hard.
