Ok, so I can hear a "servo" type sound in the air vents... when I switch to manual floor vent onlyorwindsheild only ventI can hear the 2 outer most outside dash vents clicking or attempting to open/close. And the air keeps flowing out of them. So, it is apparent they are not opening or closing but rather staying open at all times. All the other vents are working fine open/close according to the setting. It is just the outer 2 vents on both sides closest to the doors on the dash.

My question is this a major dash overhaul or removal to fix? I'm assuming it might just be a small servo on the outside of the airbox in the dash that might need to be fixed or replaced? Anyone out there dealt with this before?

Bringing it to the dealer wednesday and hoping I'm not going to get a call for $1000 repair. If it didn't make the funky sound it wouldn't bother me so much.

 

Find a good mechanic that deals with VW/Audi. The cost will likely be significantly less than the dealer.

 

I did some more research and it is definitely a servo. Might be able to pull the radio and find it while making the sound. Definitely one of the servos just behind the middle vents.

 

the middle vents just pop out as one big piece, if that helps...

 

Are they that easy to just pull the vents piece out? How do you pull it out of the dash? Looks like I might need to get something in there to hook the piece.
