The dealer overwrote my chip program. Should I be pissed or relieved?
About two months ago, I got the Optican program installed on my '06 A2.0T Quattro, and was very pleased with the results(stop and go was a bit rougher, but acceleration and passing was awesome!). I had to take it in to get a new key battery(they have to program it to work with the car) and they said "we're gonna run an ECU check to make sure that you don't have a recognized factory defect." Initially, I was thinking "Holy Crap! They're going to see that it was chipped and give me a whole load of voided warranty stuff." When I got the service receipt, it stated, "ECU back to factory specifications." and sure enough, it was.
So, should I be pissed that they just erased $500 worth of programming, or should I be relieved that they didn't say anything about it?
Oh, and while I was there, the service manager was talking to me about the EVO program which is Audi authorized. Has anyone heard anything about it?

2nd. have the reciept with you that shows they reflashed it, and your tuner should do it for free. my local tuner, APTuning, does this with the APR programs they provide (but receipt from dealer is required.)
I wonder what ends up happening if you have a BI or BT flash and the dealer re-flashes you. Would you have to reinstall your stock injectors/K03 in order to drive to the tuner to get flashed again?
well generally speaking if you have enough knowlede to run a bt.. then you arent going to be taking it to the dealer to get it fixed
and this will happen with all programs that arent encrypted, the dealer will see it.. and since your car is under warrenty then will just over write it
i dont know why you went with the programming you did, but i know revo, apr and giac all have encryption, so the dealer wont be able to tell its chiped (and apr offers the program switching function so you can put it back to stock when you take it in for service)

Well, if you know another way to get a new set of keys programmed, I'm all ears. Why would I take it anywhere but the dealer--its FREE!. Plus, it wouldn't be a problem if they hadn't checked for the CP 'glitch' or whatever it's called.
As far as encryption goes, I don't know if Optican has it, but I don't think it would make a difference anyway- they just uploaded my CP with the latest, up to date specs, which would overwrite anything else that was on there.
Anyways, I think kpatz and oh1a4 are right. When I get back, I'll just take the receipts back to the shop and get it reinstalled...or just get the REVO program and not have to worry about it.
