Disable the automatic window open/close feature?
hi,
i have a Euro Audi A4 1998, and was wondering if you can disable the automatic window open/close feature when you hold the key in the lock for a few seconds ?
i have a vag-com and was wondering if i could use that to do it by recoding the central locking module?
if there isn't a way of doing it with a vag-com then....
i assume there are two wires connected to the central locking pump/motor that when the car is locked and still receiving a lock signal (i.e. someone is holding the key in the lock position) it passes the signal down through a 'window lock' wire which then triggers all the window motors from the drivers door. And the same for opening.
so if that is the case i can just cut the 'window open/close' wires at the central locking pump/motor ??
i don't know if this is correct, but it seems a logical to me.
basically i've got an aftermarket remote interface and the signal lasts too long on the open & close circuits, so therefore opens the windows a bit when i unlock the car, and then when i lock the car it closes them up a bit. so i'd prefer to just disable this feature.
does anyone have any ideas?
thanks.

On my old 3000GT, you could remove auto up/down (if you wanted to) by removing a diode on the window switch electrical panel.
To make it go up and down auto, you would place a diode where there should be one. For instance, it did not go up automattically, so that
would have been a fix for it.
Im not sure if that makes any sense, but I remember people on the forum doing this. There was also a plastic tab blocking the connections,
si that would be removed as well.
Hope that helps.

cheers for that.
slightly confusing but gave me an idea.
basically the current that the unit is sending is too long, hence the windows rolling down a bit. so what i need to do is somehow stem / shorten the current that the unit is sending out.
i don't particularly know much about electonic but i'm sure there's gotta be a way of doing that, resistors spring to mind but i'm not entirely sure if they would help in this case.
any one know much about resistors and electronics ?
