Dissapointed..
I was really looking forward to getting a 99.5-01 A4 1.8. However Ive been reading the reviews on KBB and 95% of the people complain about constant breakdowns and expensive repairs.
I really like this car and want to get it,but Im afraid that it wont be any different from these peoples experience.
Are there any alternatives to an A4 in the price range of 9-11k. Is it possible for me to get a warranty on it even if I get it at a dealers auction?
i really dont want a honda or toyota...

RE: Dissapointed..
You can get an aftermarket warranty, but most are bogus programs - make sure it's a good one with a history of backing up their warranties.
All Audis will demand a deep pocket when it comes time for maintenance or repairs. It's just the nature of the game - it's a German precision car, not a mass market rice bucket from Japan. If you want low maintenance and low cost, then you ARE better off with a Honda or Toyota. I don't know about "constant breakdowns", but the A4 needs to be well maintained. You can't let the little things go like you can on a Honda.
A 98 or 99 A4 is a good investment. If you want less maintenance, then get a 2.8 - the 1.8t is a bit more demanding.

Sorry... not my area.
I'd research it heavily before I made a decision. I'd get 5+ different warranty companies to compare before I'd proceed, too. And I'd ask around A LOT.
Isn't there an Audi subsidiary or affiliate that offers extended warranties?
Maybe you should re-post this as a topic - you may get some advice from others here.

Think about the type of person who is willing to spend the time to write a review about a car. Usually they are people who are having problems with it. The other 95% of the people are very happy about their purchase and have no need or desire to write a report. Think about the sources you get your information from.
