Default DIY Headlight Adjustment

Can anyone please provide some instructions or point me to a link where it shows step by steps on adjusting the headlights?

Had a bad lowbeam bulb replaced by dealer recently, went back TWICE to have them realigned. Although the top of the beam does show the small step (left being lower), it is very clear that the right beam is focusing down too low and there are darker spots on the sides farther out than the left. The beam shape on the ground is quite uneven. Would greatly apprecate some help. I can't even bother going back to the dealer a 3rd time.

I have a 2002 A4 3.0Q / US

Thanks.
VL

i did search around the forum, but some of the discussion is mainly around HID bulbs, and nothing specific on how to do it and "for dummies". Will keep searching, but any help would be great.

Well i just did the install for the HIDs on my car. I adjusted the headlights my self. I just used an Allan wrench or you can youse a phillips screw driver i think. On the top of the headlights are the adjustments. just turn in till you get the hight you want. I think thats right.

Thank you for your replies. So i did a little more investigation and it seems to be a little bit more complicated than just aligning with a wrench on the screws on top of the headlight. First of all, those screws are just for mounting onto the chassis, it doesn't adjust to anything. I do not understand why there is a "1.0%" and a lowbeam icon printed on there. All it does is just tightening and loosening the headlight. So that's out of the question.

Next, I looked more carefully into the actual lowbeam BULB itself, and noticed there is a lot more reflection inside and on the top part of the bulb. This seems to be reflecting a lot of lights downward and thus making it seems out of alignment. Note that this is reflection from inside the bulb not from the reflector. Do the bulbs have to installed at a certain way? Can it be that the bulb is 180 degree off? As mentioned before, when I look at the beam form on a wall 20 ft away, the top line of the left and right headlights both seem to be correct (with the little step lower on the left).

Can anyone explain? I do not want to start taking the headlight apart before taking it back to the dealer.

thanks.
