Default Downshifting issue?

Just bought a used Audi A4 3.0 Quatro (2002).
When I'm slowing down I can feel the car shift from second to first (automatic). It's very noticable. Is this normal?

yes that is normal - and annoying - when in tip mode.
the best way to avoid the heavy clunk is not to crawl to a stop, but to slow down faster (what I mean is brake harder and come to a stop faster)

Mine doesnt do that in regular mode. Normally the clunk is from the torque converter letting go - the software in Tip mode tends to make the car do this because it keeps the TC gripping a little longer than in auto mode. In auto mode you should not feel it.

Might want to get your transmission fluid checked.

I know this may sound crazy but it worked in my other automatic cars. My buddy worked for a place that rebuilt trannies, alot of the time the actuator spring in the tranny would get stuck and one of the easiest ways to get it to release and become functional again was to get the car going over 75mph, putting it into park FAST and then back to drive just as fast. You may have to do it a couple of time to get it right. Just trying to give advice, not trying to kill you. But then again, people say I have no brains.

jesus - do NOT do this...
Ruin a tiptronic tranny and it will cost you multiples of thousands of dollars to replace. This tranny is not like "other" trannys.
