Default ebay SS-very tight

Hey, i put in my ebay ss today. A few questions, first off-i pretty much winged it, and theres a few things that seem a little bit weird that I am hoping someone can help me out with. First off-theres a fair amount of those little cir-clip things, don't know what they're for? Also, it is very tight moving side to side(from neutral to first) and it seems like the shifts are much shorter to 2 and 4 then they are to 1 and 3, any reason for that? This is the kit I got..http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Perfo...spagenameZWDVW I had a lot of little extra peices left that I just didn't know what to do with, the only peices i actually used were the 2 spacers where the shifter connects to the joint at the bottom so it didn't move side to side. Also I didn't put that spring on-should I have? It seemed weird to me and looked like it didn't do anything..Any help is appreciated, thanks!

O yeah-and the shifts going into 1 and 3 sometimes feel rough-but the ones going to 2 and 4 don't. I know I did something wrong..

I doubt the seller will be any help. That's the same ss i have, you dont use the spring unless you have a push down reverse. The only thing you are going to use is the nylon bushings that go on the botom of the shifter, I used the original bolt because the 1 that comes with the kit was to small causeing the shifter to be too stiff. Try that and post back the results.

I have that shifter as well. I had a local shop install it just cause I'm lazy. Anyway mine took a long time getting used to. On mine shifts 2 & 4 are also a lot shorter than 1 & 3. It's like the shifter stops in the middle now instead of going all the way back to get into 4th. I don't know if there's anything you can do to adjust it but let me know how it works out for you.

Also I should add that the ss you/we have is a Megan Racing brand, not sure if that helps but it took me a week of trying to get info. out of the seller so i could figure how to install it. There is a good DIY on another site for a similar shifter that might help.

The ss will feel tighter and more pronounced when going into gear which will take a week or so of getting used to since you have been used to the sloppy stock 1.

Im not sure on this car but on many other cars that I have installed SS on if you tighten the bolt that connects the shifter to the linkage it will be very stiff, try loosening that bolt a little and that might help, again I am very new to audi but this was true with 99% of the other shifters I have done.

I used the bushings, ball, rod and the fork at the bottom. I also used the accompanying clips. I didn't use any other parts and it got rid of my push down reverse (yay). I do need ot adjust the tightness of the screw that went into the fork. When I installed mine the shift throws were really short, but over time they have gotten longer.
