Just replaced the power steering belt on my '97 1.8. Serpentine is tight and correctly installed, but the p/s to w/p belt deflects about 1/2". Is that normal, or should it be tighter? I tried another belt from Contitec and it did the same thing. Both belts look to be the same width and length, even though the numbers printed on them are a little different.

 

I always used 1/4" deflection as a rule but that was on Nissans.
