Whats the truth about audi replacing emissions parts for free under 80k miles? I had my check engine light and the tech told me it was a emissions controll problem..

usaully it is your cat converter and other smog devices, check the warranty part of you manual, and I believe that it is 80,000 miles. if I can find my manual I will let you know.

Yeah i think i read in my audi manual/warrany pamphlets that the catalyst is covered till 80k miles.. The 02 sensor is usully the likely cause of a cel before the C-converter bellow 100k miles. But both SHOULD last at least that long. Replaceing the 02 sensor around 80k miles even if its not "bad" is a good idea anyway, its reaction/sensing gets sluggish over time and that reflects in your engines performance. Get vagged to be sure.
