Everyone is stumped!
My fuel pump went about 6 months ago, I had it replaced twice while I was up at school (Mass.) but it would still 'whine' on startup and accelleration and even when you roll the windows up and down sometimes.. Now I have had this to multiple mechanics they cant figure out whats the deal. Also I dont know if this has anything to do with anything but my rpms are affecting by putting windows up/down.. Thats just something I thought was abnormal, dont know if its related or not.. My cars performance and gas mileage is also noticebally worse. So im getting ready to take it to this shop by my house (NJ) to have them replace the whole pump and see if it was just that the other guys didnt know what they were doing. Just wanted to post it on here and see if any of you techs have had/heard of a similar problem..
Ha ha thats a common problem on audi's, why do you think the fuel pump has to be replaced more than once? The fuel filter is clogged buddy, they whine like hell when they get clogged and eventually take out the fuel pump.
Yeh, I don't want to sound like the Mr. Obvious on this one, either, but he ^^^^ nailed it. If they replaced pump but NOT filter, they're morons. I replace my filter like every 10k just to be safe. The pumps are notorious for failing, and the filters are notorious for clogging.
