Default fan speed increases as i drive?

In my 98 A4, i realized that my fan speed increases as i drive. I usually put it to like 6 notches in the beginning to warm the windsheild/car...then i usually lower it to about 4 so that it is not that loud, but i still have a bit of heat with my seat heaters to help as well. I noticed that if i come to a stop, then start out in a low gear (rpms get a bit higher on launch)...once i get going straight and am in 3rd or 4th...my fan is blowing like crazy. I constantly have to be lowering it after i drive. Once i lower it, if i have to stop again, the same thing will happen. I am assuming this is some sort of feature, but is there anyone else who experiences this or knows how to disable/get around it?

I got the same thing, but my front climatronic panel well screwed....
So it might be different problems, but it might be common reason.[:-]

Mine does the same thing too... Used to it now.. Not a big enough problem for me to get into.

I am assuming that you have the heat on. The climate control increases the fan speed as the engine warms, so that the heater doesn't blow cold air and make you even colder. This occurs only when you start the car and it is cold.

If you want to defrost the widnshield, hit the defrost control button, this automatically increases the fan to high speed and directs the air to the windshield.
