Default A few problems I have noticed with my 2001 Audi A4

I have noticed that the driver's seat will shift position and return to normal on hard braking or acceleration. Is that normal?

I have also noticed (what seems to be a flaw) that the transmission (Tiptronic automatic) when it shifts out of first is sometimes rough or harsh. This occurs when I am hovering around 1,000 RPM in slow traffic or if I accelerate after some moderate braking. I do not know if this is just how the tranny is set up or if it is slipping? Suggestions?

The seat will move slightly on the track when braking hard.

How many miles are on your audi? Its probably time for a transmission flush and filter change.

It has 94,000 miles. It seems to be only when shifting out of first gear that it does this. The shifting is either harsh, or abrupt when accelerating from slowing down or when hanging around 1,000 RPM. It will slam in and out of gear as it shifts from 1st to 2nd, then back to 1st when driving at around four MPH (traffic, for example).

Have the tranny fluid drained and the filter replaced. Also buy a VAG COM or find somebody that has one to check the faults in the TCM.

Would you consider this a major problem or something that needs to get looked at sometime in the near future?

Is it possible to mess with the tranny fluid yourself? And how do you access it in this style of engine?

Thanks.

You need special tools to drain and fill the tranny on audi's, it gets filled from the bottom.
I wouldn't think this is a big problem now, but if you let it go on, it can become one.

Do you know where I can find a guide that explains how to access the tranny fluid, step by step?
