Fog Light; thanks for the help!! So EASY
I started posting about this F@#$in' Fog light about 3 weeks ago when it first broke on me.
The forum led me in the right direction as far as what prices to expect and where to find em.
I then posted yesterday asking about the labor involved in replacing the Fog Light Housing.
I bought a used Housing from Gaborsi on EBAY for $38 shipped to my door. It even came with a Phillips H11 bulb!!! (same bulb as my original)
I had called the dealer and they told me it would cost me $104 (1 hours labor) to install it because they had to "pull the bumper back".
I decided to post here to get any ideas and PandaX told me how it easy it was to do, so after work yesterday I went to the mall and bought a Torx Driver from SEARS and it took me litterally 5 minutes in the parking lot to change out the entire housing. There was no "pulling the bumper back" involved, the grill around the fog light popped out with ease, and from there it was as simple as unscrewing 2 Torx Screws! This was easier than changing the JDM Fog Lights on my old Civic.
I dont know if the Service Guy I talked to was trying to rip me off, or if he just wasnt sure how to do it on my exact model. Either way I saved mad loot!!!!
I dont even know what a new housing from the dealer would cost. I found a new housing online for $100, So Im sure the dealer would be more expensize.
Assuming the new housing costs only $100, plus $25 for a new bulb and install would have cost $104, that would have been $229.
I spent $38 (bulb and housing) and $4.00(Torx Driver) for a total of $42.00.
I saved $187!!!
THANKS ALL
