Default Found an A4, a couple problems... Please help...

Ok, my uncle might be gettng rid of his wife's A4. 2003, with 40,000 miles 3.0 quattro, automatic. $12,000 if he sells it to me.

It sucks that it's an auto. How difficult and expensive would it be for a manual tranny swap?

Is the 3.0 V6 even worth modding, or would it just be a waste?

If the outlook is bad for both of those issues, I'll probably just pick it up, drive it for a while, and then get rid of it and get something with a manual transmission, and a better engine. Thanks for the help guys.

waste to mod. I dont know how i feel about the 3.0's. You can buy a decent 99.5-01 A4 1.8T with that amount of cash and do dirty dirttyyy things with it becasue of how happy you will be from the variety of things you get to mod.

the 1.8T will be SOOOOOO unreliable...the V6 models run until you take a hammer to the block. plus the 1.8 just doesnt seem to fit the "audi" luxury name very well...just my opinion tho...but if ur gonna mod the vehicle outside of looks, pick up the 1.8

does that 3.0 have tip with the auto, mine does and if it does put a tip chip, it will shift just as fast as the manuals if not faster, can't do a hole to the 3.0 unless you want a supercharger.

The A4 isn't pure luxury though, it's sport-luxury... and who told you the 1.8T would be "SOOOOOO" unreliable? It's an amazing engine... although not as reliable as the NA 2.8... it still isn't unreliable.

Ugh what? How does a 1.8l engine not live up to Audi's luxury statis? Its a rock solid engine long as you maintain the car it will last as long as any 3.0.
