Default FPR change

Hey guys-

My k04 chip will be getting here in a day or two so I have to think about changing over to the 5bar fpr I bought. Are there any specific instructions for installing it? I did a search, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

Can I just pull it out (with the car off) and pop the other one in? Is there a procedure to de-pressurize the fuel system I have to follow, or what?

Thanks.

it is pretty easy there is a bolt on the fuel rail by the front just put a rag over it and loosen it slowly then the pressure will be gone remove the vacuum line then the chip and pull stright up then install in reverse the only thing i did different when installing the new fpr was i lubed the "O" ring with a little vasoline to make it go in a little easyer so i didn't rip the "O" ring

And im still waiting to see that ebay intercooler diy from you

Also keep in mind that Eurospec has an adjustable FPR that goes inline with the lines. I would take a look at that and think about getting it!

Go to the bottom and you will see what I am talking about. Let me know if I can help!

cool, thanks. Do you need a fuel pressure gauge to adjust the adjustable type fprs, or are there just presets?

i never understood why the basic k04 used a 5 bar FPR. the pc-16, j31, and hammer files only used a 3.2 bar. i'm running the TAP k04 file spiking 18psi and holding 16psi and im using the stock fpr. i wonder if i should try upgrading it

you need a gauge, ecs sells them with a gauge but i think theirs cost more. You can also buy them separately.

Depends on the injector size used and preferance in tuning. Higher the fuel pressure, the better the fuel atomozation (sp) and higher output of the injector. Some tuners made it simple by just swapping to a 5bar and other make you change injectors andoften fpr to match.
