you tapped the rear speakers? as in the rear shelf speakers? isn't there a cross over that would make the sound be only bass freq. thus not giving anything for the tweeters to amplify?

you have to pull out the rear deck lid. Very easy to do. unplug rear brake light, fold down seats, there are three snaps on the seat side of the deck, pop them up, and slide the lid forward. check out the audiworld articles for help.

yeah there is a crossover...
although its more like a resistor...
its hidden in the metal rear shelf support
