Check another thread that was asking about his quote on a t-belt change, I replied there with a link to a good tech article. I did the t-belt myself, it was not all that hard- just time consuming.

I was paying more attention to my rpm's today and found I usually shift in the mid 3k's. In a 55mph zone I do just over 60 and in the 65mph zone I do about 73. My minimum cruising rmp is usually about 2800 (when doing just over 60) and 3300 (when doing just over 70). Don't know how you could keep your car at 2500 and under all the time, that has to be awfully low on the power band. Peak of the power band is where you want to spend most of your time, too low or too high and you will waste fuel, so just driving slow wont help you.

And in case you didn't catch it earlier, it's a manual transmission and I don't have any mods other than a K&N filter (and the new DV)

Wait, how is keeping your cars engine where it uses the most fuel efficient? If you're racing your engine at 4000+rpm and going 35, and I'm at about 1500 and going 35, how can you possibly think that you're using less fuel than I am? Yes theoretically, the engine is 'most efficient' at it's powerband peak, but that's only because the turbocharger is delivering the most boost into the engine and it's wasting the least amount of energy. Peak power is not peak fuel economy.

Dude. 450 on a tank? That's insane. I've been psyched getting 24 MPG in city driving with my 12V 2.8.

450 to a tank is what you get when you drive smoothly and gently.

I'm getting 260-300 a tank. 450 sounds like a different planet to me.

99A4NOW, is that a Quattro or a FWD?

If I were getting 300 or less, I'd be crying!
