Man, that really sucks. That's why I don't let anyone drive my car for this very reason. At first, everyone says "It's not like I'm gonna mess up your car" and then one time you let someone drive it, the car comes back trashed and most people will backpedal their way out of paying for damages. When anyone asks me to drive my car, the response is always the same "buy your own Audi." I know it's kind of an ******* thing to say, but most people these days will not cover for their mistake.

yea it was my fault for letting him drive my car, but i thought i could trust him. everything will be ok i just feel that he handled the situation the wrong way. kinda more what is pissing me off now is the fact that he isnt willing to fill out a police report because his insurance guy said that he didnt really need to. oregon law states that if there is more than 1,500 worth of damage and the car is towed from the scene then an accident report needs to be filled out. well it was towed and the damages are almost $3,000. what should i do if my insurance tells me aswell that i dont need to fill out an accident report? i could be a dick in this situation and give him alittle taste of his own medacine and turn this whole thing in, it wouldnt effect my record but it would hurt his. or should i just let it be? i just dont know, i feel like he is trying his hardest to take the least ammount of responsability for what he did.

I don't think anything you do makes you a dick in this situation... screw the guy over. He's screwing you over right now! Like you said, a taste of his own medicine... fight fire with fire dude.

Consider this friendship written off... so, you've got two scenarios: no friend no money, no friend + some money.

You are being to nice to him and to hard on yourself. It was your decision to let him drive, not your fault. The wreck was his fault. If his decision is to screw you over because of a stupid loophole in the law, then open your eyes, he is not a friend. Look at it like this, you could give him a life lesson in responsibility and help his sorry @ss out later in life. I would turn it in and try to get your car fixed. He is apparently not worried about screwing up the friendship, why should you be?

x him out as a friend because if he'll do it once, he'll do it again. however, don't seek revenge b/c evil begats evil and b4 you know it, its escalated to something much more damaging to your property and possibly your person. suck it up, handle your business like a man and keep moving. things ALWAYS have a way of coming back around....
