Default Had a (very) minor accident (pics added)

I had a small accident. I was leaving a parking lot and turned a corner and teh car in front slammed on their brakes. I thought she hit the car in front of her an di tap teh car at maybe 5 mph. There was a small dent in her bumper and my car is fine except for teh license plate frame that is from my dealership broke and teh small line where the bumper and quarter panel meet is around a cm off. The car she either hit (or she says i pushed her into is fine also) but her car needs 4k worth of work to fix it. They said most of teh damage is in the rear and the front grill was broken and the radiator propellor (or fan as a normal person would call it) is broken. She was in an old 3 series and the car in front of her was a RX300 (lexus SUV) and i think she hit the trailer hitch. My question is how do 2 cars require no work and hers requires 4 grand worth. Now i am not gonna go thru insurance but this doesnt seem right. What do i do about the damage to teh front, i cant prove that she hit the car in front first and she cant prove i pushed her into it. I was thinking splitting the front damge and i know i am responsible for the rear. If only i didnt have bad brakes and large chrome rims i would have been fine.

probably because someone along the line is after a bit of a rip off. |Either the garage she got the quote from, or the insurance company. You need to get her to take it for a 'second opinion' and if you think it is way too much, get a barrister.

If there is any way you can prove she hit the car in front of her first, then she is at fault for the accident. If you can't prove that, you will be responsible for all the damage of the accident because you would be the at fault driver. I would highly recommend you turn this into your insurance, so she doesn't sue you. They will at least handle the claim and fight for you. Better to not have anything handled outside of the insurance companies. That's what insurance is for. There are way too many factors in this case to determine anything. You should have obtained everyones information, including the car in front of her. Not sure what you should do...

this may be a dumb question, but were the police called? did the other people get a police report?

Yeah, I know from experience that circumventing the insurance process is not worth the headache or the money.

I got into an accident in which I thought I was at fault, and decided to go outside insurance so it wouldn't affect my rates. When the other person started making unreasonable demands, I called up my insurance company and filed a claim. Turns out she didn't have insurance, and they ruled in my favor. The adjusters will come out, survey the damage of each car, take statements, and then decide.

I hope you have all her info. Since it is after the fact, the police will just tell you to talk to your insurance company.

Yeah you prolly experienced massive brake fade because of the heavy wheels... bringin' 'er down from 5 mph.
How about "if only I had of being paying attention".

It's okay to admit it. It happens. But the wheel excuse was nothing short of hilarious for me.
