Default Has anyone done this DIY Boost gauge?

Here is the DIY post http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec48.shtml

I'm in the process of getting a quote to have them fabricated up. Just wondering if anyone has done this one here.

Is anyone else interested in doing a group buy on the mount? They might give me a discount for quantity. Nno idea what the cost is yet. Going to order the $35 VDO gauge off of purems

i orded my temp guage "pod" from a guy on one of the audi boards, it is a piece of plexi glass that fits a 52mm guage, the only problem with getting that "pod" is you have to have an older car

i am going to get a podi "pod" once they are avaliable for the b5

so my answer is no i wouldn't do it

Im in.

Its funny, I have been thinking about putting a guage in the same spot for some time. I dont like any of the standard mounting points either.

Pm me and let me know what you find out about this.

I was also contemplating using and lcd type guage in the same location with a digital readout. There is another DIY on audiworld with this type of setup.

If your waiting for a steering column pod then why don't you just buy one here.

This mod uses a usless area of your dash - thats why I like it.

No, I hate the steering column ones. I want one in the useless, empty space on the dashboard right above my radio. Or, possibly an LCD type mounted elswhere, nearer the steering wheel. Whatever I do, it will probably be a homegrown solution to blend in with the dash.

same here - Its not that major of a thing that I would always want it directly in front of me. Plus I really want a "stock" look so flush mount in the dash would be great.

UPDATE:

I got a quote from the guy today - the first thing that he asked me is if I need it to be black anodized aluminum. He told me that just the anodizing would make it almost $75 more for a total of $350 for one pc. So he is now in the process of giving me a quote to make 1 and make 30, made out of black UHMW plastic. Once he gets back to me on the cost I'll post it up again and see if anyone wants to do a group buy.

Spread the word
