So i recently bought an 02 a4 quattro and since having it about two weeks and two days i have put close to 900 miles on it. well, the power steering fluid drained out within a week and unfortunately i just got around to filling it today. well, i also was told that the rear driver side brake light is always on, as long as the lights are on. I also have a check engine light, caused by-according to autozone- a faulty O2 sensor.

are any of these common issues with 02 audi quattro's? it has 126xxx miles on it.

 

Wow thats alot of miles... And 1000 miles in two weeks is kinda alot. You have a long drive to work? The power steering fluid issue sounds to me like you got a crack/leak.. take it to a Fletchers or basic auto mechanic place and they should be able to give you a quote on what it cost to fix something like that.... The light thing sounds like electrical problems and the 02 sensor someone else will ansewer more correctly than I could

But... I know you just bought the car but what kinda past does it have? It seems like it has some issues, were you told about all this before buying the car? Audi's arent the kinda car worth buying if they have a bad past [&:]

 

Replacement oxygen sensor is about 120 dollars for an OEM, or you can get a Bosch universal for about 65 and splice the wires.

You have a power steering leak. Could be something as simple as one of the hoses, or worse, the pump, or the worst, the steering rack. Make sure you only top up with Pentosin 11 fluid otherwise the seals will go on the rack.

 

well, i put fluid in today, not sure what kind it was. the car is a one owner and carfax is clear and good. i have a decent warranty that should cover all of these problems so i am going to take it in tomorrow to see what they can do for me. is that pwr steering fluid the normal kind or is it a special order product? i hope i didn't put in the wrong type...

 

Power steering fluid is a special order thing. Pentosin or from the dealer.

Ur drivers brake light being constantly on is not the brake light but your REAR-fog light.
When u turn the headlights on. Pulling the switch out to the first position activates front fogs, and pulling it out to the 2nd position activates the rear fog.

 

I don't know the answers to other questions but the rear driver side brake light is your "rear fog light". Like b-coulombe said, you must pulled the light switch to the 2nd position. Try just trun the light switch on but do not pull it, I am sure you won't see that brake light again.

 

Unless you got it from an audi dealer, or import shop that knows audis, then you put in the wrong type. What were you thinking?
Take it back since you have a warranty, and let them fix it, thats what the warranty is for.
