91 100 quattro issues
I am the proud new owner of a 91 100 Quattro 5spd. 79k, 3rd owner, all paperwork, etc. Car is immaculate, leather, power everything, very tight. However, it has a few issues.
1)No power to radio. Back lights come on with head/dash lights, but switch does nothing. Fuse is good(at least in the fuse box-is there another?)
2)Cruise control doesn't work. Fuse good in box.
3)Seems underpowered. 1st half of pedal doesn't seem to do much. Floor it and keep the r's up, and it does ok, but nothing special. Definitely slower acceleration than any of my other cars/trucks. I checked the timing marks to make sure the belt hadn't slipped, and they were fine. It starts right up, runs smooth and cool, has good oil pressure, etc. When I have to stop, the tach drops, almost to nothing, but then comes right back up and idles fine. I replaced the air and fuel filters, changed the cap/rotor and plugs, but it still runs the same. I don't expect a hotrod, but think it should be quicker than a cavalier or taurus, which it is not at this time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Jer

1) There is an auxiliary relay panel behind the knee panel under the steering column. Is the factory radio equipped with antitheft, every time you disconnect the battery or lose power you will need to enter a security code. Also some radios have an additional fuse on the back of the unit.
2) Common problem on a lot of Audi's I would check the two switches that are mounted on the brake and clutch pedals.
3) At 3300lbs, AWD and with only 130hp pushing it your expectations are bit high. Do the math! A V6 Taurus is faster. A late model Cavalier is lighter and putts out 140hp!

Thanks for the info. There is a 5 amp fuse in the back of the radio that looks fine. I take it the relay is the one with the chime on it. Is there a way to test it, or just replace? I see 2 multi-wire plugs and a single wire going to the radio. They appear fine. Which wire(s) should be hot? I can live with no cruise, and not a lot of hp, but no tunes is just wrong. Even without music, I've still been driving the Audi to work everyday. I'm doing a deck on the far side of the lake, about a 40 min drive. Lots of tight, twisty roads. I was dreading the drive in my truck (lifted old Dodge with a built Cummins-lots of power, but doesn't exactly handle very well) Now I look foreward to the drive. Keep er singing, and this thing is pretty fun on the twistys. Cut a good 10 minutes off my drive time. I've wanted one of these since I was a kid. Not necessarily this model, just a Quattro. I remember riding up the mountain a few times with a friend of dads on the way to go skiing. We'd be passing all the toys and subarus, and he'd say " remember, boy, this is an Audi- the best snow car ever" Kinda looking foreward to the ski trips this winter too. Anyways, enough rambling. Thanks again,
Jer
