Default Help please with Radio and CD Autochanger

I have a 1997 Audi A4 1.8t. It has a Gamma CC Sound System Radido Cassette in the dash and a Bose amp in the boot. I was advised that if I could find the CD autochanger cable in the boot all I had to was plug in an Audi 6 CD autochanger. So I found the cable an 8pin din. Found a CD Autochanger on eBay which turned up today. Plugged it into the cable switched on the Radio and nothing is happening.

Unfortunatly my Audi Radio book dosen't say how you work the CD from the Radio head unit.

Have I bought a duff autochanger?

Will the CD Autochanger work with my Gamma radio?

How do I control the CD from the Gamma Radio?

Any help would be much appreciated and thanks for any replies.

Just to verify what you said...they are both 8 pin? If they are then you should be all set to go. To change to the CD changer you just press "mode".

Hmm....you have this radio?

I wonder if you would be able to just swap in a delta radio (one in my pic).

What I don't understand is the CD cable in the boot appears to be plugged into the back of my radio. Presumably it does nothing and is not connected.

It makes no sense at all. I could understand a 1996 A4 getting a Gamma radio as it could have been one of the first off the assembly line and the Delta radio was not ready, but yours boggles me. If you do pick up a delta radio, there is no guarantee it will be plug and play though. But if you need wiring diagrams i have you covered. I suggest looking on ebay, they go for around $50 US.

Speak German??

Yes you are right I have the Gamma radio without the mode button.

Thanks for the links to the 2 German radios. One is only 1 Euro at present but it looks like the one I need. I have translated the text and is says he has the code and manual. So I will start bidding. Hopfully this will solve my problem.

Thanks for all your help and replies.
