Default HIDs installed!

Hi guys,

Installed a set of 8000k HIDS on my 01 B5... looks great but I got that darn burnt headlight signal lamp going off and it annoys me..

I did some searching and it says to add some resisitors to trick the car into thinking the lights are there.

Anyone else got any ideas that are quicker and dont require me to go out to the store... its sunday and im lazy!

Note: I did the relay install, do most people just do the plug and play install instead??

Thanks,
Michael

I did plug and play for mine, and no problem with a burnt light warning. I think the only way to really get that to go away is the resistor, so get your lazy *** off the couch!

Go to radioshack
Buy the resistors (very cheap)
Put them in (takes seriously 2 mins)

I did plug and play install with the resistors--no problem.

Do you mean 'what?'

A resistor is what it sounds like it is. Simply put, it restricts the flow of electricity. The halogen lamps have far more current draw than the xenons, so the car thinks that they are burnt out.

wouldnt this be the opposite of what you want to do though? stock halogens run at like 55w and HIDs run somewhere around 35w, so the computer is reading a low current draw. so wouldnt a resistor make it even lower?... i had the same problem and put in resistors and it made the HIDs very dim and flickered..

I think the computer just gives the message because it's reading an incorrect current draw. I could be wrong though, I'm not good with electricity

I didn't do the plug and play install... i installed with the relay harness so i have one of the stock headlight connectors not plugged to anything....
