If you get oil on the bulb, it could burn out.

I am interested in getting some too but do u buy a straight looking housing first and throw some hid bulbs in them? My friend said he ended up paying around 1200 to do his vw but the parts were from a vw in europe made with the equipment...

You can install them in any Audi headlight housing that you have (or in some of the aftermarket ones too). Used to be, I'd see many vendors selling D2S bulbs (for projector housings) and D2R bulbs (for reflector housings, like the pre-facelift A4s). Nowadays, they're all selling just the D2S bulbs. That's fine, because the D2S will work fine in a reflector housing or a projector (I have D2S in my pre-facelift low beams and they're great). You could order HIDs first, and upgrade your headlights themselves later on - as long as the new lights are meant to hold an H7 bulb, you should be fine (unless you order some of those cheaper halo lights from eBay - some of 'em say that they're not intended for HID use, but Valeos and Ecodes are fine for it).

You'd have to be pretty dumb to mess the install up. Just buy one of those plug and play kits for around $150 and you're set.
